About Mechapro

Where the name Mechapro comes from

Chris has been working on vehicles professionally since 2000. That career did not begin in a backstreet garage — it began in franchised dealerships, working to manufacturer standards on the brands those manufacturers entrust to their own networks.

Mechapro is not a franchise, a call centre, or a network of contractors. It is one technician, one standard of work, and a name with a history behind it.

The name Mechapro was not invented for a website. It originated with Chris's grandfather — a tradesman so respected in his field that colleagues nicknamed him 'Mechapro': mechanical professional. It was not a title he gave himself. It was given to him by the people who worked alongside him.

Chris grew up knowing what that name stood for — precision, reliability, and the discipline to do the job properly the first time. When he founded this business, there was only one name that made sense.

That is the standard every job is held to.

The mechanic behind the name — and why the name means something.

25 years in the trade — from dealerships to your driveway

His dealership career included time at Nissan, Volkswagen and BMW before eight years at Volvo — where he qualified as a Volvo Premier Technician, the manufacturer's highest technical certification. That level of training is not available outside the Volvo dealer network.

Alongside dealership work, Chris has operated as an active MOT inspector, worked at vehicle preparation centres, recall centres and insurance-approved bodyrepair centres. Each of those environments demands a different kind of precision — and a different understanding of how vehicles fail.

He founded Mechapro to apply that depth of experience directly — without the overhead of a franchise, without the booking delays of a main dealer, and without a customer ever wondering whether the person working on their vehicle actually knows what they are doing.

How every job is approached

Twenty-five years of trade experience — across dealerships, recall centres, inspection programmes and independent diagnostics — produces one consistent lesson: most vehicle problems are misdiagnosed before they reach the right technician.

Parts get replaced that are not faulty. Faults get cleared that return within a week. Customers pay twice for the same problem. This happens not because mechanics are dishonest, but because proper diagnostic investigation takes time and equipment that most quick-fit environments do not allow for.

At Mechapro, every job begins with structured diagnostic testing using Autel and Launch professional platforms. Live data is analysed, components are tested under load, wiring integrity is checked, and control module communication is verified. The fault is confirmed before any repair is recommended.

That process takes longer than plugging in a code reader and ordering the most likely part. It costs the same. And it means the repair actually fixes the problem.
