Returns, Refunds & Cancellation Policy
At Mechapro, we aim to provide clear, professional and transparent service. Because we provide mobile vehicle diagnostics, servicing and repairs, not retail goods, this policy differs from a standard shop return policy.
This page sets out what happens with bookings, call-out fees, diagnostic fees, parts, labour, cancellations and refunds.

1. Nature of Our Services
Mechapro is a mobile mechanic and diagnostic service. Most of our work involves professional time, travel, technical assessment and labour. Because this work begins from the moment of attendance, most services cannot be 'returned' in the way a physical product can.
This policy reflects that reality whilst protecting your rights as a consumer under applicable UK law.
2. Call-Out Fee
A £30 call-out fee is charged to confirm and secure a booking. This covers travel to your location, scheduling and attendance time.
✅ The call-out fee is non-refundable once the technician is dispatched or has begun travelling to your location
✅ If the repair proceeds, the £30 call-out is deducted from the labour charge
✅ If the customer cancels after confirmation, the call-out fee may be retained to cover lost time and expenses
3. Diagnostic Fee
A £50 diagnostic fee covers up to 45 minutes of structured professional diagnostic testing.
✅ The diagnostic fee is non-refundable once diagnostic work has commenced
✅ The fee is payable regardless of whether the customer chooses to proceed with a repair
✅ The fee covers the technician's time, professional equipment, testing procedures and findings - not a guaranteed repair outcome on that visit
✅ A diagnostic session may identify that further investigation, specialist equipment or additional parts are required before a repair can be completed
4. Deposits for Parts and Bookings
Where parts need to be ordered specifically for your vehicle, we may require payment or a deposit before the booking is confirmed or the parts are sourced.
✅ By paying for parts or a deposit, you agree that parts may be specially ordered and that ordering may begin immediately
✅ Deposits for specially ordered parts are non-refundable once the order has been placed with the supplier
✅ Where a booking slot is reserved specifically for a job, a deposit may be taken to secure that time
5. Parts and Components
If Mechapro supplies parts for your vehicle:
✅ Returns are subject to the supplier's return policy at the time of purchase
✅ Electrical components, specially ordered parts, opened service items, used parts, fluids, filters and gaskets are commonly non-returnable by suppliers
✅ Any supplier restocking fee, carriage charge or deduction may be passed on to the customer
✅ Parts that have been fitted, used, contaminated or damaged cannot be returned
✅ Parts ordered based on incorrect information provided by the customer may not be eligible for refund
If the customer supplies their own parts, Mechapro accepts no responsibility for the quality, compatibility or durability of those parts. Labour charges remain payable even where customer-supplied parts prove incorrect or faulty.
6. Labour and Completed Work
Labour charges cover the professional time and skill applied to your vehicle.
Labour is generally non-refundable once work has been carried out, including where:
✅ The customer changes their mind after work has begun or been completed
✅ Additional faults are identified during the job that the customer declines to have repaired
✅ Progress is limited by seized components, previous repairs, inaccessible parts or vehicle condition
✅ The vehicle is found to have pre-existing damage that affects the repair outcome
Where additional work is identified as necessary during a job, we will seek your approval before proceeding where reasonably possible.
7. Cancellations and Rescheduling
Cancellations by the customer
✅ Cancellations made with reasonable notice may be rescheduled at our discretion
✅ Last-minute cancellations - particularly within a few hours of the appointment - may result in the call-out fee being retained
✅ If the technician is already travelling or on site, the full call-out fee applies
Missed appointments
If we attend and cannot carry out the work because the vehicle is unavailable, the customer is not present, the location is unsuitable or unsafe, or relevant information was withheld, the call-out fee will be charged and we reserve the right to charge for additional lost time.
Cancellations by Mechapro
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a booking due to unforeseen circumstances, safety concerns, or technical scope limitations. We will provide as much notice as possible and will not charge a cancellation fee in such cases.
8. Consumer Cancellation Rights for Distance Bookings
Where a booking is made remotely - by phone, message, form or email - you may have cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
However, by confirming a booking and requesting that we attend or begin work, you acknowledge that the service has begun within the cancellation window. Once the service has begun, you may lose some or all of your cancellation rights, and you may be charged for:
✅ Work already carried out
✅ Travel already undertaken
✅ Diagnostic time completed
✅ Parts already ordered
✅ Any reasonable losses incurred due to the confirmed booking
9. Refunds
Refunds, where appropriate, will be processed back to the original payment method within a reasonable time frame.
A refund may be considered where:
Refunds will not generally be given for:
✅ We are unable to attend and no work has been carried out
✅ A duplicate or incorrect payment has been made
✅ A supplier accepts a return and refunds the part cost to us, less any supplier deductions
✅ A refund is due under applicable consumer law
✅ Completed diagnostic work
✅ Completed labour
✅ Travel or attendance already carried out
✅ Specially ordered or non-returnable parts
✅ Customer change of mind after parts have been ordered or work has started
10. Faults and Warranty Concerns
If you have a concern about work we have carried out, please contact us as soon as possible with:
✅ Your name and vehicle registration
✅ The date work was completed
✅ A clear description of the concern
✅ Supporting photographs, videos or warning messages where available
We ask that you give us a fair opportunity to assess any concern before authorising third-party repair work, as this may affect what we can verify or warranty.
Our workmanship guarantee covers defects in the work carried out. It does not cover unrelated faults, wear and tear, customer-supplied parts, or faults arising from circumstances outside the scope of the original repair.
11. Non-Returnable Items - Summary
The following are typically non-returnable and non-refundable once ordered, opened, fitted, used or supplied:
